How to Make the Most of the Utah Landscape in your Home Decor

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

Here in Utah we have some of the best and most scenic landscapes in the country. From forests, rivers and lakes to mountains, canyons, hoodoos and deserts. We have all of this stunning natural beauty right in our hands. So why not make the most of it and bring some of those elements into your home decor.

Picture Windows

When you’ve found the perfect view from your home, Utah home builders can help you install a picture window, or several. This can act as a stylish piece of home decor to enhance your overall aesthetic and highlight your Utah landscape theme.

Art

Whether it’s a photograph that you’ve had enlarged or a painting, art is usually always a good addition to your home decor and can be as simple or as complicated as you like. Art is subjective after all. But maybe you’ve taken a great photograph of your local area or your favorite scenic spot in Utah? Photos can be fantastic home decorations, as they can add a touch of your personality to your home as well as give it a natural connection to the world just outside your front door.

Plant Life

Have a wander around your local area and see what plants naturally grow. The types of plants that grow in the landscape that’s right outside your home will depend on where in Utah you live. For example, you may not see the same plants in the forests and mountains as you see in the drier areas of central, west or southern Utah.

If you want to keep your backyard as authentic as possible, try to go for plants that are native to the environment that you live in. Some plants can also make great home decorations, helping you to bring that outdoor landscape indoors.

Colors

Depending on where in Utah you are, the colors you can see outside your home may be slightly different. But no matter what type of landscape you live in, you can bring the colors from your natural environment into your home. If you live near a forest and in a mountain valley, shades of green, such as pine, can work well in your home to give it that connection to nature.

You can add a more muted color, or even a neutral color to your walls and simply accent with the pine green.

If you’re landscape is more desert-like, bringing terracotta or sand colors into your home can work well. Even adding cushions or throws to your living area or bedroom can enhance your home decor and highlight your local environment.

Natural Materials

When you’re choosing home decorations, it can be a good idea to opt for natural materials that can be found in close proximity to your home. Using locally sourced materials can help you feel closer to nature, as well as give your home a more authentic Utah inspired feel.

Consider the rocks that can be found locally and add them to your backyard landscaping. Or perhaps find a coffee table or end table that’s crafted out of Utah rock. Wood can also be ideal to use, either for furnishings or decorations and can work well regardless of the landscape that’s outside.
