Great Places To Take Your Dog In Utah

Living in Utah has plenty of opportunities to get out and about. Whether you want to explore the wilderness, hike along scenic trails, take photos for home decor inspiration or take part in watersports, there is a seemingly endless list of outdoor pursuits available. But what if you have a dog? In the United States, there are literally millions of us who have dogs at home but not everyone has access to the same great outdoor opportunities as we have in Utah. So here are some fantastic places where you can take your four legged friend to enjoy some quality adventures together with your whole family, because Utah is not just for humans.

Antelope Island State Park

Antelope Island State Park can be a wonderful place to visit whether you have a dog or not and it can be especially easy to access if you live in Syracuse. Antelope Island State Park has lots to offer families with dogs, with trails that can let you explore the island and get closer to the wildlife. One thing to remember, though, is that your dog must be kept on a leash at all times. There are free roaming bison in the state park.

Willow Creek Dog Pond

Willow Creek Dog Pond is a fantastic location in Park City where your dog can run around and enjoy time off leash. The park covers 2.4 acres and is enclosed for added safety. The dog pond features a floating dock and lots of space for your pup to splash around and have fun. This can be a great spot to visit in the summer when dogs will adore cooling down in the water.

Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail State Park

Before or after the splashing fun at Willow Creek Dog Pond, check out the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail. This is a 28 mile trail that runs from Park City to Echo Reservoir. Dogs must be kept on a leash but the trail can make for a fun walk along a scenic and historic route. Hikers, bikers, horse riders and others use the trail so remember to take extra care.

Parley’s Historic Nature Park

One of Salt Lake City’s best parks for dogs, Parley’s Historic Nature Park is located in the south of the city and features a creek that dogs will just love jumping into. There are both off-leash and on-leash trails, giving you lots of opportunities for walks. The park is also home to a wildlife refuge, as well as scenic views of Parley’s Canyon. This can be a great place for a variety of walks, whether you’re looking for a quick morning ramble or a longer adventure.

Jordanelle State Park

Just east of Park City, you’ll find Jordanelle State Park, which is a great place for the whole family to spend a day outdoors. There are lots of things to do for humans, including watersports. There are some areas of the park where dogs are not allowed but they can enjoy a walk on the Perimeter Trail and Three Rocks Trail, as long as they are kept on a leash at all times. Remember your camera, as there are wildlife photo opportunities to create memories or even home decorations.
