Sackcloth and Ashes

Story

Bob Dalton was inspired to help the homeless population when his mother found herself living on the streets in 2013. Because of his mother’s journey, he was inspired to call his local homeless shelters to ask what they needed most – they all said blankets. That’s when he founded Sackcloth & Ashes. For every blanket purchased, we give a blanket to your local homeless shelter.

Mission

Our mission is to highlight grassroots organizations that are creating solutions for helping the homeless. The blankets that we donate, although a real and practical need, are third party objects that connect us to amazing people and organizations doing incredible work on a grassroots level – in which we can help support and promote.

Campaign

In 2018, Sackcloth & Ashes launched Blanket the United States, a campaign with the goal of donating one million blankets to homeless shelters by 2024. Whether you personally want a blanket or are looking for a corporate gift idea, each blanket you purchased will provide a blanket to a homeless shelter in your community.

Product

Our fabric is manufactured in Italy, India, and the United States. Our blankets are from 100% recycled material, eco-friendly and good for the environment. Each blanket is ethically made and produced in Oregon where we do all production and fulfillment in-house.
